The Art of Waiting
Saturday December 14th
10am - 4:30pm
in Sebastopol, CA
The workshop is open to all bodies, all identities. Some familiarity with Contact Improvisation can be helpful but is not necessary. We are making efforts to create a more diverse space for practicing and encourage queer and racially diverse identities to join this workshop.

This one day workshop investigates the antidote to rushing through a dance. We mostly experience time as linear, flowing always from the past through the present to the future. But time is far stranger than that. Time feels much more like the whole water cycle than a single river. In my experience time can stretch, slow down, speed up and fold back on itself! We explore perceiving time kinesthetically rather than conceptually. We will delve into what happens when we notice the details of each moment, as if time is slowing down no matter how dynamic the dance.
As an anchor we use our head-pelvis connection. This skeletal and energetic conduit supports our understanding of how our individual body rhythms ride on the experience of gravity. Traveling effortlessly our bodies meet the earth through our partner.
